We would like to suggest increasing or removing the character limit in segments within Trados Team.

In our experience, when buying Trados Team, it was presented as a solution that could be used independently, without the need to rely on Trados Studio. However, in practice, certain limitations—such as the current segment character limit—make this difficult.

When working with content that contains longer segments, we are required to open the project in Trados Studio, manually split segments, and then re-upload the files into Trados Team. This process:

• Adds extra steps to the workflow
• Increases the risk of import/export issues
• Reduces overall efficiency

This limitation is also somewhat inconsistent within the Trados ecosystem, as the same content can be handled without issues in Trados Studio but not in Trados Team.

Additionally, some files originate from tools such as Poedit, which use segmentation structures that have historically worked well in Trados Studio but can lead to issues in Trados Team due to this restriction.

Our proposal:

• Increase the segment character limit significantly, or
• Remove the limitation to better support real-world content and existing segmentation practices

Aligning this behavior with Trados Studio would help streamline workflows, reduce dependency on external tools, and improve the overall user experience in Trados Team.
