Will confirm NMT segments go the TM or do I need to change their status so they are saved in the memory? So far, I'm just editing them and confirming them, but then they don't show up as translations in the next file, so I need to edit them again. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

What I understand from your post is that you're trying to get machine translation results for your file, is that correct? Also that you're correcting these results and update them. So here a few key points to remember when using NMT:
1. Machine traslation cannot be trained, at least not your case here. So you can edit the line and correct it to go to your translation, but unless you have also your own TM added to the project - and the Update option checked to save the segments - you will receive the same results over and over, not corrected.
2. Add your own TM alongside the machine translation. This way, the corrected line will go to your TM and next time there is a match you will receive better/ more fit suggestions from your TM, instead of machine translation.
