Format target document and comolete project in Studio Live

Dear community,

I hsvd translated a file in Studio Live. Unfortunately, the word count is higher in the target file, which seems to have messed up my formatting. Puctures, text boxes etc. are grouped and I ungrouped them to adjust the format, but now I'm worried this might lead to problems when delivering the file? Would there be another way to adjust the format in Studio itself (tags are all in the right place)?

Also, I thought I could upload the adjusted target file back into Studio Live, but since I marked the project as "completed" this doesn't possible. I had tried to download the file before marking "completed", but the word file I was getting then was strangly only viewable, not editable.

Thanks so much for any tips and advice!

  • Hi

I am struggling to locate your account so I can appreciate which version of Trados Live you have.

With regards to tag placement  - that is tricky as there are times tags need to change for valid reasons.

But are you aware of this option found in both Trados Live (Project Settings / Configuration) and also in Studio (Project Settings / Verification)

Trados Studio project settings showing 'Tag Verifier' options with 'Tag order changed' highlighted and set to 'Warning'.

With regards to your project is in a complete state, but you want to want to replace the target file.
Yes it can be done but you need Trados Team and the workflow must incorporate the Finalisation Phase - hence I wanted to know what type of Live package you have.

Sorry it seems this is partially unhelpful but happy to address any follow on comments you may have

  • Hi Lydia,

Thanks so much for your message! I'm only just getting the hang of this, so any hint is helpful. I am using Trados Team, but I have already marked the Finalization Stage as completed. So I'm guessing it's not possible to exchange the target file now? I figured it would make sense to replace the file with the adjusted format, but maybe it's not necessary?
I had tried to download and adjust the target before the Finalization Stage, but even though I could download it, but could not make any changes to it before.

Regarding the tags, thanks for pointing out that option. I do believe they are in the right spot, but this could prove helpful in the future :).

The problem I guess is the length of the target file, as the word count is higher in the target language. So, for example, text boxes that had a fixed size in the source language had to be adjusted. I did that manually, but for that I needed to ungroup text boxes with pictures etc. It seemed to have worked so far, but was a lot of work, and I'm not sure how to regroup everything properly and worried it might lead to problems at some point. Would there be another simpler way how to adjust this kind of formatting?

    Thank you!
