If you would please also let me know, how can I run the new Trados on my laptop PC?  I can use the license for multiple devices, right?  Please advise.  Thank you!  Katerina

You mentioned you have a Mac computer. Trados Studio comes with 2 components, the Desktop component and the Cloud component.

Trados Studio desktop will not install or run directly on the Apple Macs operating system – MAC OS X. However, there are two solutions that will enable you to run Trados Studio on an Apple Mac - you can use Boot Camp to install the application and alternatively, virtual machine software can be used, such as Parallels or VMware.

Now, regarding the use of Trados on multiple devices, you have just one Trados Studio 2024 license and this means only one activation code, so you can activate the desktop version on only one device.

The Cloud component of Trados can be used on a different device since you Login from a browser, and this gives you the option to access Trados from other devices.

Trados Cloud capability offers the following benefits: 

• Secure cloud backup of your work
• Access to the online editor, letting you work from anywhere on any device
• The option to prepare or create projects either online or in the desktop app
• The ability to process projects in the cloud while working on another project in the desktop application.

The features are almost the same with the desktop version, the limitations of the Cloud version are the following:

- you cannot use the apps

- you cannot use server-based TMs

- you cannot open project packages

I also have a PC laptop I have the older version of Trados on that does not work well anymore.  I am trying to figure out how to use Trados under these circumstances.  Sorry I did not mention the laptop earlier, as the MAC desktop is my main computer, but I can use the PC if need be.  It is just old and slow. 

I will need to open project packages to work on projects, so please let me know how I ca use Trados on my laptop PC.

I already mentioned above that you cannot open directly project packages in the Cloud component.

As for how to use Trados desktop - you either use a Windows emulator on MAC as explained in my reply above, or you install it on a Windows computer.

Thank you. I really appreciate your responses.  There are too many videos to watch and steps to take.  This is my first exposure to the new Trados.  Can I download the files to my computer and then drag and drop them into Trados, upon which they will open so I can work on them?  This would be much easier for me.  Just asking if this is possible before delving into all those steps I need to take for uploading on the cloud.  

Also, thank you for adding the features the PC should have so Trados can function better on it.  I will need to ask about it to see if those features are there.  I hope I can find a way to do it all on the MAC, though.

I will be using Trados from a new PC I will be getting soon with Windows 11, so hopefully it will work smoothly.  I have seen the cloud operation thus far.  Thanks for your input.  I hope I figure it out.  

I now have a PC with the latest Windows 11 version.  Would you please let me know how to run Trados on this version?  Is there a download to install Trados Studio or Do I simply login to my Trados account?  This is the most important question for me.
