Would you go for creating custom file types, or ""abuse"" the .JSON filetype (which mostly correctly extract content) but is limited in handling embeded content tags like %d%D

Given the different format that php files can take I don't think there is one solution for all. An example file would probably help answer this better, but this question was discussed a little at Elevate:
