SR3 disaster

Thank you SDL! After months of waiting for upgrade that would make Studio Freelance fully usable on Windows 10 / Bootcamp / iMac 5k late 2015 (I think it was in september I contacted you and was promised upgrade) you ruin my Studio. Only thing I get after installing your SR3 upgrade is "There is a problem with the installation. Studio cannot be run. If the problem perstists you will need to re-install Studio."

I have already run the upgrade twice and still nothing. Any advice?

And by the way - am I talking to SDL specialists here or a customer forum???

Fridrik Fr.

  • Hi there,

Is there any more news on this? We had the information not to update the freelance licences with SR3 and then had information that SR3 was available for the professional version on Friday. We updated the professional version with SR3 for SDL 2015 yesterday and are getting error messages saying "unable to open database file" and "No reference to the project is known". Sometimes we can work in the project anyway, but certain features are not available, e.g. the find and replace window does not pop up, so we can no longer search in the file. This has caused us problems yesterday and will continue to be a problem if we cannot resolve it. We are waiting until the end of March to upgrade to 2017 as we want to get through a busy period before installing the new version but I tried to install it today as a test and have the error "Set-up did not complete. The error is: Package "SDL WorldServer Components" could not be installed..." Has anyone else had this issue? Do we need to revert to SR2 again, despite receiving the update for SR3 on 3/03 (after the messages on here)?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hi ,

SR3 is available for all versions... there is no separate SR3 for Professional.

Please try running this file manually:

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2015_SR3\modules\WorldServerComponents.msi

Maybe also try a repair through the windows control panel if that alone doesn't help.

    Regards
