Upgrade to Studio 2015 SR3 - best practice?

Considering the past problems with the SR3 Studio 2015 upgrade, do we have a best practice for an upgrade from an already installed Studio 2015 SR2 to the now currently valid Studio 2015 SR3?

I did a clean setup on a second laptop for travel by downloading Studio 2015 SR3 for a Freelance Plus installation. SR3 was the only version available on my Account Licenses site. I worked without problem while travelling. So now I am encouraged that it can work.

On my home computer I have not dared to upgrade Studio 2015 SR2 to SR3, because of all the problems, lock-up issues etc.

Do we have a Best Practice now?

My operating system is Windows 7 Professional.

My license is for Studio 2015 Freelance Plus.

Do I uninstall Studio 2015 SR2 - 12.2.5191.7 and MulitTerm SR2 - 12.2.1629.0 and if yes, what is the best sequence for reinstallation to avoid problems.

Return the license first?

Then uninstall everything?

Then install Studio 2015 SR3, and then reinstall the above mentioned MultiTerm SR2?

Please advise,

Sincerely,

Susanna Miles

  • Hi

In practice you don't need to return the licence and you should be able to install this over the top of the existing installation.  But if you're concerned then do this:

    1. Uninstall Studio 2015 SR2 - 12.2.5191.7 via the windows control panel (no need to uninstall MultiTerm)
    2. Install Studio SR3 and allow it to run the cumulative updates after you start it for the first time
    3. Run MultiTerm and make sure it is also running the latest cumulative update
    4. You should have these when you are done:
      SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR3 - 12.3.5281.10
      SDL MultiTerm 2015 SR2 - 12.2.1657.4

    That's it.

    Regards
