Unknown exception when I try to open Trados 2015

I was recently working on a file, and after a while I regularly got an error message when trying to save, but I didn't save its stacktrace.

Today when trying to launch Trados, I got an Unknown exception error, with the following stacktrace:

<Type>System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089</Type>

<ErrorCode>-2147024732</ErrorCode>

<HResult>-2147024732</HResult>

<StackTrace>

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I got the same message. Any help?

  • Hi Frederic,

    I believe the errors are due to a failed license check (or using the wrong 2011 code). Your Studio 2015 license is definitely inactive in your account at this time-

    Please log in to your SDL account/Licenses and copy the whole Studio 2015 activation code that begins with 81aa**********

    Now start Studio, and when requested to activate the license, paste the above number.

    If you are unable to get to the activation stage then please do the following-

    1. Close SDL Trados Studio / Activation dialog.
    2. Browse to the folder:for Studio 2015: C:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\Data
    1. Rename or delete file “Studio.lic” found there
    2. Start Studio and now try to activate the software as per the above instructions.

    Please let me know if the problem is now resolved.
