The requested data file could not be located

Hi
We have this error message when opening 2017: "The requested data file could not be located". We saw a discussion on how to fix this but the link with the solution had disappeared :(
Can we just uninstall/re-install?
Thanks! Iain :)

  • Hi

    Try this first:

    Resolution

    1. Go to this location: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0
    2. Find this file: TranslationMemoryRepository.xml and rename it to TranslationMemoryRepository_old.xml
    3. Open Studio and see if you still experience the issue

The solution is in this KB article:

  • Hi, I am experiencing the same error "The requested data file could not be located" for a Trados TM. It appeared after these steps:

    - I installed and opened Trados Studio 2015 onto a new pc
    - I opened a Trados Studio 2014 TM which was located on external drive (and which was last used on another pc with Trados Studio 2014). It worked correctly.
    - I closed Trados Studio 2015 and shut down the pc.
    - I then disconnected the external drive, connected it to the other pc, copied some files I need on my new pc, and disconnected the drive.
    - I connected the external drive to my new pc again and started it. Windows informed me that something was wrong with the external drive, and it needed to repair the external drive. I let it successfully repair the drive.
    - Now, however, my TM, does not work anymore in Trados Studio 2015. Its its file size has changed to 0 bytes and when I try to open it in Studio I get the error message ""The requested data file could not be located"".

Does this mean I cannot use this TM anymore. Or is this a TM problem that somehow can be fixed?
