Error message: Impossible to execute Studio on this PC

Hi all,

I have tried to open Studio on my laptop (the same I always use) and got an error message: Impossibile eseguire questa App nel tuo PC. Per cercare una versione per il tuo PC contatta il distributore del software (impossible to execute this app on your PC. TO look for a version for your PC get in touch with the software's distributor). I am clueless and don't know what to do. I have tried a Studio repair but the option is not there; I have looked for the AppData folder as instructed by SDL support but it's not there. nyone who has an idea on what might have happened? What if I remove the software and re-install it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

VPN's are most commonly associated to corporate networks (on which Freelance cannot run).

Are you saying that freelancer who works completely independently for some external company (i.e. is perfectly fine using Freelance version) and uses VPN connection purely for e.g. accessing some internal file storage, query system or similar, is bascally screwed by some weird Studio limitation, blindly assuming that the only VPN use is for some corporate stuff?!?!

Please tell me it's not true... I can't believe in such terribly short-sighted (or money-snatching?) rule... :-O

Is then anyone running VPN server on his own home router (to securely access his home network from outside) forced to pay for Pro version?!

  • Hi Evzen,

Please dont shoot the messenger :-)- but yes- what I have stated is 100% correct.

As I am sure you will agree, there has to be a line between X, Y and Z and wherever this line is, may affect a small number of users.

This is going to be true for pretty much any product I think, such as Windows Basic/Home/Professional etc. where certain features would be nice, but only available in a higher version.

Such a set up simply reflects by definition the structure of a server/domain and a license on its own simply cannot identify if that VPN is corporate or simply used for personal privacy.

The following article explains licensing- https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001675 and possible solutions.

The licensing system we have in place works for 99.9% of all users- but should anyone should be in such a situation, I am always available and would work with that user to find a solution.
