Deactivation-Activation in another laptop

I have installed the SDL Trados Freelancer in a desktop computer. Now I want to install it on the laptop. I went to my account in SDL and tried to deactivate it offline. The message on the activation status says deactivation initiated. I tried to activate the SDL on my laptop but it says 0 licenses remained, which means it recognizes still the SDL installed on the desktop computer. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Hi ,

There's loads of information about licensing here:

I have a Studio 2015 Plus license. The installation is on my laptop. I recently installed 2015 on a new desktop machine and but no activation code appears available in my account for a second installation. I want to keep 2015 on both machines. In short, I need to activate on the new desktop machine. What am I missing?

    - Do you have a Studio 2015 Freelance Plus license? If so, you should have a second license available unless it is still activated to an old computer. If this is the case, you can get free help with licensing (or installation) problems here:

Fill in all the details required on the form and submit it. There is a box to select that this is a licensing problem. They will help you free of charge.
Make sure your email address is correct or nobody will be able to contact you.
I don't think they will reply now till Monday, though.

If you don't have Freelance Plus and therefore a second license, why not just install Studio 2017 on your new desktop as you mentioned?

If you'd like help installing, the Studio Installation Guide can be downloaded here:
