Cannot open Trados Studio 2017 after a Windows update

Last week, on February 18th, Windows (10) made an update on my laptop.

Since then, every time I try to open Trados Studio 2017, I only get one message "Not found".

I removed and re-installed Trados Studio 2017 several times, but I always get the same message.

I also followed the steps recommended on: https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/93/t/15261 but it didn't work neither.

For now, I still manage working with Trados Studio on my Desktop PC. But what if Windows will make the same update? How will I work?

I also tried to revert and create a Windows restore point, but this does not work.

I really need your help to figure out what is going out with SDL Trados Studio 2017. All other softwares are working fine after this update!

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hi ,

First make sure you have tried a reset. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

If that didn't help, and you have run a repair too as it sounds, then please log a case so the support team can help you with this. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing

    You have two options:

    1. Submit a case using a webform
    2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.
