Latest update to Studio 2017 failed and erased everything

Hi folks.

Any help appreciated.

Trados Studio 2017 (can't tell what version as it is gone now).

Windows 10.

Away for a month, start Studio and get an 'update now?' message. Sure, I think.

Update runs, deletes files and hits the 'Studio feedback module' (or some such). At this point, it tells me I do not have sufficient privileges to run it. Only options are 'Cancel' and 'Try again.' Try again does nothing, so I Cancel. The program says it is rolling everything back BUT it has erased my 2017 program from the disk.

Who can help? Of course, Trados can if I pay, but is there another way? I will be needing my program real soon and cannot even log a ticket with them.

Thanks.

Yours,

cantrell

  • Hello

This sounds like there maybe some 'admin' rights issues here.

First of all- please run a full Windows update and ensure these are also installed.

Then go to the Windows control panel/programs and features-

Windows Control Panel showing Programs and Features list with SDL Trados Studio 2017 highlighted and options to 'Uninstall' or 'Repair'.

Do you see SDL Studio 2017?

If so, please run 'Repair' (this will only work if you are logged in to the machine as Admin).

For this to run successfully- you may also have to disable your AntiVirus- which may have been the cause of the problem in the first place if the machine had been left unattended for any extended periods of time.

To log licensing and support tickets (these are completely free of charge) simply log in to your account - click on support/licensing and installation.

If you are still having problems, please let me know.
