Studio 2019 blocked!

Hi

I was working on a project and when I tried to open it the following day I just  received the error message: Unexpected exception when initializing view part Fragment Matches. Followed by: Failed to deactivate view Editor. Now Trados is completely blocked. I can't open anything. I've tried repair and restarted a number of times without any luck.

I have masses of work to do and need to resolve this problem.

Have considered uninstalling and reinstalling but thought I'd try here first.

Any suggestions please?

  • Try using View -> Reset Layout first. If thatg doesn't work close Studio and do a reset.

You could use this app for the reset and this will also explain what you will lose by carrying out a reset before you do it:

    appstore.sdl.com/.../

But if you'd rather do this manually then rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

    www.howtogeek.com/.../

  • Hi Paul

Thank you for your reply and suggestions which I followed religiously. It has allowed me to navigate to some extent in Studio, which I was unable to do before (had to use task manager to close) but I'm still getting the error messages: "Unexpected exception when initializing view part Fragment Matches" and "Failed to deactivate view Editor" whenever I try to open Translate a single document. I spent the weekend having to redo all my work directly into a PowerPoint document as I was unable to access any of my work in Studio (the problem I believe initially arose when I tried to save to Target and received the message that the document was corrupt). As I now have a large job to do I need to resolve this as soon as possible and wonder if uninstalling and reinstalling is my only option.

    Kind regards
