Dear All
I have downloaded the trial version of studio 2019 to try before I buy, but get the above message when the activation screen pops up. Any thoughts? I currently have Studio 2017 installed.
Thanks

Hello SK,
please check the below link and follow the instructions from the workaround:

Let me know if it worked.

Dear Alina
Thanks for your prompt reply. When I run the .exe file as an administrator nothing seems to happen. then when I open strudio 2019 trial the same message appears.
If you have any other advice I'd be grateful to hear it.
please see the instructions from the following link https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/w/customer-experience/4160/how-to-install-sdl-trados-studio-2019-trial-installer
It offers you all the information on how to install the Trial version properly.Maybe some steps were missing during the installation.
However, in case it does not help you either , I would kindly recommend you to contact the installation team using this link: https://gateway.sdl.com/webtocase and they will solve the problem .

Thanks Alina. I followed all of those steps. If it's so hard to download the trial it doesn't bode well for the full version. I think I'll just leave it.
Hi SK,
The version you download is actually the full version but it opens in trial mode until a license has been purchased.
It's worth trying SDL Studio. I have been working with this product since its beginning and its predecessor before that. I love it and thoroughly recommend it!
If you can't face trying out the online installation instructions, go straight to contacting the installation team for free help, using the link Alina Aura Obreja provided:
https://gateway.sdl.com/webtocase
A form appears. Fill that form out, tick 'installation' in the 'Case Type' dropdown menu and make sure you give your email address accurately as that is how they will contact you.
All the best,
Alison
Thanks Alison. I've been working with Trados since 2011 and its good but the errors are constant and I'm wasting far too much time on them. In fact I wanted to try out 2019 because my 2017 is beset with problems (recurring licensing issues, termbases not recognised etc etc)!

Hi SK,
I've just seen your second post. I hadn't read that you already have Studio 2017 when I wrote my first post... oops!
If you've just started having problems once you updated to cumulative update 16 and the corresponding MultiTerm CU8, you can uninstall and download the last two versions and install them.
If you'd like to do that, here are shortcuts to download them:
You will need to first uninstall Studio and MultiTerm 2017 via the 'Remove suite of projects' shortcut for each of them reached via Control Panel > Small Icons > Programs and Features...
No need to release your license, it will associate itself to your next installation of Studio.
Restart your PC then install Studio first, then MultiTerm.
Then, it would be a good idea to run a Windows Repair as described in the following knowledge page:
Repairing your SDL Studio/MultiTerm installation
I hope this helps,
All the best,
Alison
PS I still think you should give 2019 a try, it really is sooo much better than 2017, in my experience...
