Choosing languages when installing ...

Is there a way of deleting all the versions of English in the Project setup? When installing the software I do get a warning that they will be installed, but I did not find any alternative  - there are is a long list with versions of English from countries I did not even know existed. It cant surly be of NO use to ANYBODY having the whole list in front of you when all you want is one or two of them?

Best regards,

Knut

  • Hi

There's no way I know of deleting all the versions of English from any of the language dropdown menus in Studio.

The reason for this is that they all become accessible on installation because you only need install one version of a given language when you first install SDL Trados Studio to be able to use all the others.

For some people this is necessary. I know it's irritating but don't you find that there is a list of the last used languages at the top of the Source language or Target Language dropdown if you click on the 'pencil' icon I've highlighted here:

Trados Studio 'Create a New Project' window with 'Target Language' dropdown menu open showing English (United Kingdom) selected.

    Then on the dropdown arrow:

Trados Studio project creation screen with 'Target Language' dropdown menu open and French (France) selected.

Which reveals a list that is composed of the languages you've used recently:

Trados Studio interface showing 'Target Language' dropdown with a list of recently used languages, including English and French variants.

Likewise the Source language dropdown reveals your most recently used languages at the top of the list...

Screenshot of Trados Studio with 'Recently Used Languages' list visible, highlighting English (United Kingdom) in the 'Target Language' dropdown.

    All the best,
