Using two different license keys for Studio 2019 on the same computer

I am using Studio 2019 as a freelancer with a freelance license. But I am also an employee in a translation agency and the translation agency wants to provide me with their own activation license.

My question is: is it possible to use two distinct licenses on the same computer and switch between both licenses?

To make it clearer, let's say I using license A as a freelancer and license B from the translation agency I work for. Is it possible to use license A when I work as a freelancer, and then switch without problem to license B when I work as an employee, all that from the same computer?

  • Of course.  You just deactivate through the help menu and activate with whatever licence you like as long as it's for the same version of Studio.  I imagine this is because you are using a Professional licence in the office and a FL at home?

  • Dear Paul

Thank you for your answer! I indeed use a Professional license as an employee for the translation agency and a FL license as a freelancer. So if I understood correctly what you said, every morning (when I start working for the translation agency), I'll have to deactivate my FL license and enter the activation key they'll have provided to me. And at night, when switching to my freelancer activity, I'll have to deactivate their Professional license and activate mine. And this everyday. Is that correct?

I simply want to be sure that there is no risk that, by switching between Professional and FL license like this everyday, there won't be a bug and make me unable to have access in the end to my FL license. Indeed, I'll do this switch everyday since I work on the translation agency's license during the day and, at night, I'll be using my FL license.

Thank you in advance for reassuring me on this point!

Working like this should not be a problem in terms of the licence.  But keep in mind that if you work with features that are Professional only then when you switch back to Freelance you won't be able to use them anymore.

It might also be worth thinking about only working with the Professional licence and just don't return it.  Will that be a problem for the company you are working for?  If not it would save you the hassle and your Freelance licence will always be available for you should the need arise to use it in the future.

  • Dear Paul,

Thank you again for your useful feedback! Which features are available with the Professional license and not with the FL one please? Anyway, I understand that the features are specific to each license so, whatever the differences are between both, I'll only have access to those specific to the FL license when I use it and not to the Professional features.

Thanks for the suggestion fpr using the Professional license all the time, even as a Freelancer. That would be indeed very useful and logical but I doubt the translation agency would agree with this, plus I guess they could trace back my activity on their license, right? So, unfortunately, I prefer not to try but thanks anyway!!!
