Studio 2019 won't open

Hello,
I haven't opened my SDL 2019 in a while (I have two licences, both without expiration). This morning I got a job assignment, but I cannot open SDL 2019 at all. Anytime I try to open it, I get the typical erorr messagge (Object reference not set to an instance of an object) and the programme simply shuts down by itself. I've just tried to uninstall and reinstall it, but this hasn't fixed the problem, unfortunately. It's frustrating, since I don't have access to the software at all.

Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you!

It would be more helpful if you attached the XML error message you can save when you see it. There would be more detail behind the Object reference part which could be helpful.

But in the absence of any detail try the basic fix all and reset Studio. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

www.howtogeek.com/.../

Hi Paul,

Thanks. I've just tried to reset Studio, I can open it, but I still receive error messages while trying to translate the sample documents. Sometimes it's "Fail to activate Editor", sometimes I get this error message:

I don't know if something went wrong with the new installation, I also tried to repair the installation.

- is possibly because that you have installed languages that are not compatible with the limited Sample Files? (guessing here).

Are you able to use a Word document of your own and create a project to translate?

If you are still having problems, I would suggest logging a support ticket (Licensing and Installation issues do not require a support contract (via your SDL Account- Support- https://gateway.sdl.com/webtocase )
