Installation of Trados Studio 2014 fails

Hello everybody,

A client of mine has a problem installing Trados Studio 2014. Installation fails with the following error message:

downloading failed with HRESULT= - 2146697211

As I can see from log, it happens when vcredist_x86.exe is downloaded.

Any advice would be appreciated. Slight smile

Stay safe and healthy!

  • Hello ,

Without the full error stack its difficult to diagnose the issue properly.

Its always a good idea to post the full error stack- along with the operating system and as much info as you can provide

Error dialog box with a red cross icon, instructing to click on the icon, save the XML file to desktop, and add file to the thread.

However I will assume in this case that the prerequisites arent installing correctly

Go to : C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\Dependencies and run all the Prerequisites for Studio 2014 from here. If you have a warning/error message for some of them just continue with the next one. (eg)

Folder view of C:ProgramDataPackage CacheSDLDependencies with a list of application files including 'vcredist_x64', 'vcredist_x86', and 'dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64'.

Then go to : C:ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2014_SP1\modules and run the below .msi files :

    TranslationStudio3.msi

    TradosCompatibility2.msi

    WorldserverComponents.msi

The user will need to have Admin rights on the machine
