Reinstallation fails due to error message stating a newer version is already installed. Everything relating to SDL was uninstalled and registry was cleaned.
Clearly not cleaned well enough! This problem normally occurs when you don't uninstall a newer version correctly, which is not your fault with 2017 as we do have a few items listed in the control panel.
