Problem with importing a package

Hi, I'm getting this error (Cannot find part of the path:  ......

I can open it with Trados 2017, with Trados 2020 not. My distributor of Trados cannot find a solution either. Please help.

Trados Studio error message displaying 'Importing package' with a red exclamation mark indicating a problem during the package import process.

  • It would be helpful if you could provide the full error details?  You may be able to get these by clicking on the message an looking for a link to the error details, or simply something that says "details".

Otherwise, try making sure the path to your package doesn't have any diacritics in it (old bug but worth checking); also make sure your package is on a local folder and not a network or cloud drive somewhere.

What kind of package was it?

  • Hi Paul, it turns out that there was a space in the project file name which apparently caused the problem (diagnosis by LSP software). But still, why does Trados 2017 open the package without problems and the "upgraded" 2021 does not? Here's the error message.

  • why does Trados 2017 open the package without problems and the "upgraded" 2021 does not?

Because we introduced a bug.  It unfortunately happens!  I think this is also logged already, LG-26525, and I think it's already fixed in SR1 which is in Beta at the moment so due for release shortly.

  • OK :) Speaking of bugs. When I create a new project, I can drag and drop the files to translate. In the next steps however, I cannot drag and drop a TM (or TB). Any reason for that? It's been a bug (or a feature) of Trados for many many years. Could you log this as well, please?

  • That's not a bug!  It's a feature that has never been implemented.  I suggest you check http://ideas.sdl.com and if you don't find an idea for this already that you can vote for please create your own.

  • Thank you, I will! And as for our problem, I just stumbled upon this article, it looks like it's been a feature all throughout the version 2019 already so I'm not discovering anything new in 2021 :)  community.sdl.com/.../88401

  • That was a different error... similar, but different.

  • Hi Paul, any update on this? I have another package that my trados cannot open.

  • Have you updated since I confirmed it would be fixed in SR1 that was released last year? You should be running these versions:

    SDL Trados Studio 2021 - 16.1.3.4096
    SDL MultiTerm 2021 - 16.1.1.541

If you are please can you send me your latest package problem?
