When you upgrade from Studio 2019 to Studio 2021 you can indeed install both side by side on the same PC.
The process is as follows.
Update Studio 2019 to the latest stand- Open Studio 2019 - Help Check for Updates.
Once updated, close Studio 2019 and process the upgrade via your SDL account/ Licenses.
Install Studio 2021 and activate with the new license code in your SDL Account.
Now you should be able to run Studio 2019 and or Studio 2021.
