I have never used the newer version until now, but would like to get to using SDL 2019 now, do I have to install SDL 2017 first or do I have to pass directly to 2019? It would be great if someone could help me, thank you.

Studio 2019 is already available in your Downloads section. You can also download it from this link: SR2 : sdlpatches:5dlpatch35@ftp-emea.sdlproducts.com/.../SDLTradosStudio2019_SR2_CU7_2849.zip

I have the download on my laptop, but cannot see it in the download section, so there is no licensing number either - is that correct?

In order to have the 2019 license code available in your SDL account you need to process the upgrade from 2017 to 2019, exactly like you did from 2015 to 2017.
If you already have the 2019 installer on your laptop you can go ahead and install it.

Okay, thanks so much. I wasn't sure regarding the gateway article as it obviously goes from one version to the next, not from 2015 to 2019, I can now see my licensing number. One last question, if you could help me here? Where can I stop the notifications see screenshot?

You can do that from your Profile > Settings. But remember to turn them back on if you post something and you want to receive emails.
