Update Studio and Multiterm Error 1602, one of the prerequisite components fails to start

Question

Hi guys, 
 
 I get below error when trying to update both Studio and Multiterm 2019 to the latest version. 
 The installer starts but fails when trying to remove the old installation and want's me to navigate to a msi package in the 
 C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLMultiTermDesktop2019\modules folders. 
 These packages does not seems to be valid. 
 
 I cant uninstall Studio eigther because of the same error. 
 
 Translated from danish: 
 --------------------------- SDL MultiTerm 2019 --------------------------- Setup did not complete. The error is: Package 'SDL MultiTerm 2019 Convert' could not be removed. The installation source for this product is not avaiable. Please check that it is accessable. Error number: 1612. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------

 Please try to follow the below steps : 
 1. Download the latest versions for Studio 2019 and Multiterm 22019 from the following links: sdlpatches:5dlpatch35@ftp-emea.sdlproducts.com/.../SDLTradosStudio2019_SR2_CU7_2849.zip 
 sdlpatches:5dlpatch35@ftp-emea.sdlproducts.com/.../SDLMultiTermDesktop2019_CU6_56482.zip 
 2. Run the installers downloaded at step 1. 
 3. If you receive any error message please try to install Studio 2019 SR2 manually following the steps from this article: https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0029228

Hi Sorin, 
 I now had a change to have a look at it again, and followed your instructions. 
 The first steps dit not work, they resulted in the same error messages. 
 Then following the links from your link took me to this article https://gateway.sdl.com/CommunityKnowledge?articleName=000002277 with a workaround provided by Microsoft: 
 Workarounds provided by Microsoft 
 Microsoft has a KB article that provides steps to resolve this issue. 
 I then ran the troubleshoother https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed and uninstalled all the SDL Multiterm programs listed. 
 Then SDL MultiTerm was removed and I could install it from the files downloaded from your step one. 
 I guess this will work on SDL Trados as well. 
 
 So thanks for pointing me in the right directions and for the installations link.
