SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider cannot be added on Trados Studio 2021 SR1 - 16.1.3.4096

When adding the SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider, putting in the user credentials, then clicking Sign in, then it does nothing appear in the Translation Memory and Automated Translation list. My file-based language pairs are there.

Therefore I uninstalled everything, first from Window's Programs and Features, then I removed all folders and registry keys pertaining to Trados Studio, and re-installed from scratch.

I did install the latest Sdl.Community.MTCloud.Provider.sdlplugin even uninstalled and re-installed it.

Still no go.

Please advise.

Thank you.

  • I believe we are facing a bug, but I found a work-around.

First to answer Monica below, yes I have the latest version, my language pair is English (Canada) -> French (Canada).

    Here is the work-around:

    1. Create a small Word document with only one phrase in it and name it something like Trados-Default-for-me.docx.

    2. Open the Trados-Default-for-me.docx file in Trados and save it as a project. Close it.

    3. Open the Trados-Default-for-me.sdlxliff project you just created above and add the SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider to it by clicking on the "Project Settings" button in the toolbar at the top, remember to put a check mark "enabled" beside it on its right. Save it. Close it.

    4. Keep the Trados-Default-for-me.sdlxliff project in the Projects list forever. If the Projects list ever becomes empty then this is where the bug happens where the SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider cannot be added anymore.

    5. For every new or old document or project you open, verify in the "Project Settings" that all is fine with the language pairs and that the SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider are both ticked "enabled". Add the SDL Machine Translation Cloud Provider if it is not there.
