There are total of three activation license keys (two from 1 PLUS and one from 1 SINGLE USER lincense).
PLUS license is installed on one PC, and SIngle user license is installed on another.
I frequently run version compatibitlity issue so I prefer to have both versions installed on the second PC
but activation of second license key for PLUS license for the other PC that already has SINGLE user failed.

You have a 2021 license so please make sure that you are trying to activate the license in Studio 2021. This error appears when trying to activate the license in the wrong version of Studio, for example, if you`re trying to activate a 2021 license in Studio 2019 or older.

thanks but I am afraid for some r compatibility reasons I need both 2019 and 2021 launched without closing the other. I can try de-activation of the other 2021 and activation of the other 2019, but somehow license return or activation did not work and I needed to ask support team's reset assistance last time,
so in worst case I need a license reset two times by trying this out,

The only way to use Studio 2019 and 2021 with the same license is the way it was described in the article I provided. Only if you have 2 computers you can use both versions at the same time.

I am afraid I am not trying to activate both versions at the same time with same license. I need to activate one 2019 with one license and activate one 2021 with another different license. I first migrated 2021 to the other and this needed license reset (for unknown reasons). I tried to migrate 2019 (the other license, not the same key) but this has failed. According to explanation there shouldn' t be any restrictioni using 2019 and 2021 with different licenses and this triggered this question thread,

At this moment you don`t have a 2019 license key anymore as this was replaced by a 2021 license key when you processed the upgrade from 2019 to 2021.
