Hi,
I have Studio 2017 installed on my laptop and wish to upgrade to Studio 2021 for which I have bought the upgrade recently.
Note that MultiTerm 2017 is not working anymore.
My question is: do I have to install Studio 2019 on my laptop before installing 2021? Also, what do I need to make the installation and make the software work?

You upgraded to Studio 2019 from 2017 (which is no longer active) and then again from 2019 to 2021
When you process the upgrade to Studio 2021 ....
...simply download and install Studio 2021 and MultiTerm 2021 and use the new activation code.
There is no need to download/install 2019.
