Hello Steven,
Same happens to me after last service pack (Studio 2021). Never ever had a problem with this plugin and with anyone of it's updates, so I think it's service pack related, but I'm not an expert
I have removed and reinstalled the plugin (after closing Studio and even after restarting the PC) with no effect.
It began with a message about an invalid authentication key. I removed it and change it with no effect either and then, after some tries the mesagge changed to
I have tried to go back to the previus plugin release to no avail.
Tell me if you need more information.
Thank you very much in advance!

Please make sure, that you have the latest version of the plugin installed. Then copy your API key from your DeepL account and replace ANY keys which might be stored in your application. Restart Studio.
Should this not help, close Studio and go to C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16 and rename all *.bin or *.bin2 files you'll find there.
Should even this not help, rename the complete folder Studio 16 and try again.

Good morning, Jerzy,
Thanks for your help, but nothing you suggested works.
I did everything step by step. Finally I uninstalled the Deepl plugin, closed Studio, renamed the complete folder Studio 16, open Studio again, installed the newly (again) downloaded plugin, copied and pasted the newly (again) generated key and still doesn't work.
Again, this happens after the last service pack. No issue before. In fact, Studio prompted me to download the service pack and the new plugin.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Last update. My guess is that the issue is in the new plugin release.
I have followed your same suggested steps but I have installed the old plugin instead and it works!!!. If you ask me I don't know which version it is, but my new computer is no more than one month old, so it is the plugin available at that time.
Of course this still no optimal solution, so it should be nice to find where is the problem and fix it and upload a new release.
Best regards

Looks like the problem is NOT on the side of Studio. Make sure you are copying the valid API key from your Deepl account:

Morning again, Jerzy, I copy and paste you my update edited in my former message.

So the problem is not the key (which was newly generated and pasted again and again with the new plugin to no avail, but works with the old one). Not blaming any one, Jerzy, just pointing out there is a problem.
Thanks again!
How do you install the plugin?

1) In my first and unsuccessful attempt, after downloading and installing the service pack, I did it directly through the Studio 2021 interface, and restarting Studio.
2) In my following attempts, uninstalling the non-funcioning plugin, closing Studio, downloading directly the corresponding version pluging for Studio 2021 from the Appstore webpage, doubleclicking in my folder for installing and then open Studio, copied and pasted the key. Unsuccesfully.
3) To reinstall the old release (I discover that the back-up version I have is the 5.8.20.0) I uninstalled the last one, closed Studio, double-clicked on the pluging in my folder, copied and pasted the key and voila.
In both cases, believe me, I took very much care about creating, copying and pasting the new key from Deepl.
4) The latest news is that, as I am very persistent, I have tried again to install the latest version of the plugin that Studio notified me after installing the OLD and FUNCTIONING one. Like first time, I followed the procedure from the Studio interface itself and this time I have been finally lucky but only after restarting Studio twice because the first time it also gave me an error message.
This was the real sequence
Did it
Did it
Try do add Deepl and then
Then removed Deepl from the memory settings and checked the installed plugins
Then restarted Studio again
And finally works...
That is a very strange story, honestly. I have version 5.8.23.1 installed and the only thing I needed was to apply the API key again...
Keep my fingers crossed, that it will continue working for you. However, the hint about unsigned version is very strange. The 5.8.23.1 is signed.

I am not an expert so I can't judge, but by deduction the previous version installs without problems (including with the new Service Pack installed) and the latest version gives problems (not even solved with your suggestions and workarounds) in the same PC, no settings changed, so, with all due respect and without any knowledge of programming issues, the designers should look at the differences in programming or coding of both plugins.
Thank you anyway for your weekend efforts and have a nice day.
I'm pretty sure there are no problems with the current plugin working with the latest update. I think it's quite likely you have not completely removed the old one from Studio before installing the new one.
Please note that when you double click your plugin to install you probably placed it into the roaming folder. When you used the Studio integration to install you probably placed it into the local. I'd hazard a guess that this is where you are having a problem. Clean them all out properly first and you should have no problem.

Good morning. Thank you for your comments. I did remove the plugin and checked again that it was removed.
Remember I was unable to install the new release by any means and then installed back the old one and then finally to install the new one with the above mentioned incidents.
As I said the plugin works now. But now this message pops up every time I open Studio...
and still works
I point this out just for you to know. I have no time to deal with this thing now because I have a long working day ahead. So it's going to take some time until I can come back here.
