Studio 2014 upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1

I have Studio 2014, the double-Freelance licence. One of the two licences is installed on a Notebook which runs on Windows 7, and I would like to upgrade that Notebook to Windows 8.1.

Should I return my licence before the upgrading the operating system, and then get a new licence, or will my licence from Windows 7 continue to work on this Notebook, after the Notebook has been upgraded to Windows 8?

Thanks in advance for all help.

  • Hi Joachim,

I think it will continue working... but as the deactivation/activation is only one click I would advise you do that and then you'll avoiod any problems. If you decide to try it anyway and run into a problem then don't forget you can also reactivate it yourself too.

You can reset your own license by using the Self Service option in your MySDL account for SDL Trados 2011 and SDL Trados Studio 2014.

Go to KB article #5196 ( http://kb.sdl.com/kb/article?ArticleId=5196 ) and follow the instructions.

So whatever you do there shouldn't be any problems for you.
