I just upgrated to the latest RWS Trados version, and then when I click the "Create New Project" the Create New Project window popped up and then hanged there forever! No error reported, I had to kill the process by Ctrl+Alt+Delete to end it.

A support case has been logged for me, I'll provide any solution from RWS when it becomes available. For now, I suggest you uninstall 4404 version and re-install previous 4276 version. So far it worked for me as long as I can continue to work while waiting for RWS' solution.

But it didn't work for me, you can have a try.
I suppose your project template is damaged.
Go to File -> Setup -> Project templates and declare any other template to be default.
If you do not have any other templates, close Studio. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\ProjectTemplates and copy the SDL Trados.sdltpl, paste it into Documents\Studio 2021\Project templates.
Start Studio, go to File -> Setup -> Project templates and import the SDL Trados.sdltpl there. Then make this one the default one. remove the other one there, copy a fresh copy of this template from the program location and paste it into the same place as the other template. Import into Studio, now it should work. Obviously you will need to adapt the settings there, but you should be able to work.

Thank you Jerzy, I did have the same thoughts regarding the template, actually I have more than one templates for my daily work. I tried to use each and every of them in the 4404 version to create a project, but none of them worked, all of them ended up hanging there. So I had to re-install the previous 4276 version and also tested each of the template to create new project, guess what? All of them worked as usual. So for now I have to stick to the 4276 version to continue my daily work. I'm guessing something wrong with the compatibility of template between current version and previous ones. Hopefully maybe next update could solve the problem. For now, I'm going to refrain from using the current 4404 version.

It was always advisable to create new project templates with each change of the major version of Studio. But I have never changed the templates with CU releases. So there must be some setting in your template referring to an addin or plugin, which is not (yet) compatible with the CU8. Do you have any references to NMT in your templates? Is the correct NMT plugin installed in CU8 and compatible?

In my case this was caused by the plugin "XLIFF Manager". There are a couple of threads with this topic at the moment, as you may have noticed, such as https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/licensing/36809/new-project-wizard-make-trados-crash. There might be a couple of plugins that cause this crash. RWS/SDL is investigating this. Thanks again to Bogdan from RWS who solved this for me in about 24 hours.

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I have quite a few plugins that could end up being the culprits in my case, so I'll take a look at those and see where the problem is when I have time. Yesterday, I did as jie chen advised and switched back to the 4276 version to be able to work on an urgent project —everything worked fine.
I will come back and post what the solution was in my case when I have time to look around and find it. Thanks again for your input, everybody!

I tried uninstalling the XLIFF Manager plug-in and it worked for me, as well. The New Project Wizard no longer crashes. A good thing because I really wasn't looking forward to uninstalling Trados and reinstalling. Thanks!
Hi all,
I finally had some time to play around with the plugins, and it turns out there were two that were causing the New Project wizard to crash: Reports Viewer Plus (as was mentioned in the above thread) and Trados Transcreate. I uninstalled these and the 4404 version is now running smoothly.
Just thought I'd mention them here in case others are having the same issue and happen to have the same plugins.
