Now if I need to use the earlier version Trados 2019 SR1 (for an online TM plugin to work), can I just install that first and register it using the activation code?
Or do I have to install both versions, 2021 and 2019, because I am currently registered for version 2021?
You once said the same code applies when you have both versions installed on the same pc, 
and you can use them side by side.

You can run 2019 and 2021 on the same machine.  It's likely, that if you just install 2019 now you won't have to licence it because it'll take the activation from the fact 2021 is licenced.  You cannot run and activate 2019 without 2021 being activated on the same machine unless you purchased a completely separate licence for 2019 and 2021.

I first installed Trados 2021 and activated it.
Then I installed Trados 2019 using a file that I had downloaded some years ago, for the earlier version before SR2.
When I run Trados 2019 for the first time, a message is shown "Activation expired [37]".

I see that the entry for Trados 2019 is now missing from the "Licenses" page, 
while earlier versions 2014 etc. are still listed there.

You need to have at least Studio 2019 SR2 CU7 installed. Please download the latest version of Studio 2019 from the below link and install it.

Thanks for replying, Sorin, but I need to revert back to SR1, because that is the last version that works with the server plugin.
Is that possible, to revert back to SR1 after installing SR2 directly?

Unfortunately it`s not possible to use Studio 2019 SR1 with a 2021 license. As I said in my previous reply you can use Studio 2019 only if it`s at least SR2 - CU7.

Where?  CU8 for 2021 had some issues, or rather it caused issues for some of the apps and we have resolved these already by putting workarounds into the apps.  But what issues are there for CU8 in 2019?

I have now installed the Trados 2019 SR2 CU7 version and it does pick up on the license from version 2021, so that is working.

I checked this with the support team and just want to confirm that this only affects 2019 CU8 with GroupShare 2015 specifically.  We have had versions of GroupShare for 2017 and 2020 already so 2015 is quite an old release and this probably won't get fixed.
