Issues after Reinstalling Trados 2017

Hello Support Team, I have two questions please: 1) I had to reinstall Windows and consequently Trados, but the Adaptive MT translation did not work. It did not accept my sign-in. Please tell me what to do to correct that.
2) since I reinstalled Trados, the TM results are not reflected automatically in the target segment and I have to hit "Apply Translation" every time to get them. This was not the case before.

    Please first remove any apps that you have installed.

    You will find them in this location-

    C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14\Plugins

    File Explorer window showing the Plugins folder inside the SDL Trados Studio directory with two subfolders named Package and Unpacked.

    Now open Studio- Go to Help- Search for updates and ensure Studio is on the latest stand (before reinstalling each app from the RWS AppStore)

    Try now to connect.

    If you still have problems, please post screenshots of what you are seeing and also the project settings.

    This often helps us understand what might be the issue.

    Thanks for your reply.  Here are answers to your questions:

    1.  I could not process the C:\ command that you gave me.  Here is the error message that I got:

    Command Prompt window showing error message 'SDL SDL Trados Studio 14 Plugins is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. The system cannot find the path specified.'

    But you're right, I do use My Memory Plug in and it seems that it's not working properly, as I get this message when I log into Trados:

    Warning dialog box from SDL Trados Studio about an unsigned plug-in 'MyMemory.plugin.xml' asking if the user wants to load this plug-in with options Yes or No.

    2.  Concerning Trados updates, It seems I am behind as I get this message when I check for updates:

    SDL Trados Studio update notification showing available update from version 14.1.10015.44945 to 14.1.10018.54792 with a 'Download and Install' button.

    3.  Concerning the inability to log into Adaptive MT, here is the message that I get:

    SDL Trados Studio sign-in screen for AdaptiveMT with email field filled in and a green checkmark indicating successful login.

    Please tell me where to start to resolve all these issues.

  • 1.  I could not process the C:\ command that you gave me.  Here is the error message that I got:

    This is not a command, but a path. So instead of using it in the command prompt, navigate there using Windows Explorer. If you won't see this folder on your system, just google for hidden files and folders in Windows and how to show them. Then delete the plugins from there as advised by Steve.

  • thanks Jerzy for your quick reply.

    I am currently working on a big project and am too scared to play with my environment before I deliver the project.  I'll continue with the current sub-optimal setting until the project is finished.

    However, if you can tell me how to fix the issue of manually "Applying Translation" by a quick fix, as I know the My Memory Plug-in is not working well since I reinstalled Trados (see the error message in my previous mail).  That would really help my work and speed me up.  Thanks

  • I'm afraid there is no better way to repair your installation as the one suggested by Steven.

    However, you could try to say "No" to the message about unsigned plugin when starting Studio and work without the My Memory plugin.

    Also make sure, that your segments are in status "Untranslated". Then go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Automation and make sure, that the option "Apply best match after successful lookup" is checked.
