I see that the issue has been raised quite a few times and that the problem was resolved every now and again. But none of those remedies work with me.
Any othere suggestions that may resolve the issue, please?

You might try the following:
1.Remove the termbase from your project settings.
2. Export your termbase to xml and save the termbase definition file (*.sdt)
3. Create a new termbase based on the *.sdt file.
4. Import the xml file, using the "Synchronize on entry number" import option (this recreates the termbase exactly as it was before).
5. Reorganize the new termbase if this has not happened.
6. Add the termbase to your project settings.
