How to install the floating licence on multiple computers

Hello,

we have a floating licence and we have managed to activate it one one computer, but we now want to activate it on another computer. I understand we cannot use them at the same time, but how do we install them? When I try to put in the activation code, it says the licence is already in use. Do we have to reset it every time we want to install it on a new computer?

Kind regards

  • Hello

If you want to activate it on another computer you need to deactivate the license from SDL License Manager and then activate it in SDL License Manager on the new computer.

Ideally, the license should be activated on a server / computer which is reachable by the users who need to use the license. This way, when a users closes Studio, the license will be available for another one and you won`t need to deactivate / reactivate the license in License Manager every time.

    Thank you,

    Sorin

  • Hello,

the original licence was activated on the server (via the Alternative activation options > Use a licence server) on my computer. I now want to activate the licence on all computers, so we can use it on each computer in turn (not at the same time). When I go to the same options on the new computer (Alternative activation options > Use a licence server) and write in the name of the computer on which the licence was activated, I get an error (even though Trados in not running on my computer at the moment). Do I need to de-activate the licence on my computer each time somebody else wants to use the licence on theirs (and they have to activate it each time as well)? This seems like a very convoluted way of working, why is the licence in use now when I am not using it on my computer? We have a network licence.
