Studio 2014 installation: Digital Certificate Requirements

Page 22 of Studio 2014 installation instructions states as follows:

"All SDL Trados Studio and installer files are digitally signed.Make sure your list of approved root certificates is up-to-date and includes the root certificate from the Certification Authority that generates SDL's code signing certificate.

C     For computers with access to the Internet:
Windows Vista or later - Go to https://www.digicert.com and add the new root certificate to your Trusted Root Certification Authorities certificate store."
However, this does not help me much.
  1. What certification authority does SDL use?
  2. Where on that website do I generate the root certificate?
  3. Where do I add the root certificate to the trusted root certification authorities certificate store?
  4. Are these services subject to a charge?
   I would appreciate all help.

  • Hi Suvi,

Unless you have windows update turned off you will have the digicert root certificate installed, which means you don't have to do anything.

However, there is a kb article that is worth a read just in case something manual needs to be carried out.. so for example if you are working in a locked environment and automatic installation is not possible:

    http://kb.sdl.com/#tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:4641

So if you do what the guide says (click the url) you will be prompted to install the certificate if needed.  If you don't get prompted you don't need to do anything.  On your specific questions.

    Digicert as per the url.

Nowhere because they are generated by digicert for general use.

Run windows update, visit the https site or download manually.
