How to install Trados in a new computer without having access to the old one

I have a new computer. I have not access to the old one. I couldn't believe it when I found out that the license had to be deactivated on the old computer. I never imagined that this process would be so complicated. I've unsuccessfully tried to figure out how to install and use Trados in this new computer. I am not a tech ninja, just an average user. Please help me.

Thank you.

  • Deactivation is normally quite straightforward, you would just click on Help -> Product Activation and then deactivate the licence:

Trados Studio 2019 interface showing the Help menu expanded with an arrow pointing to Product Activation. A Product Activation dialog box is open with a green checkmark and the text 'SDL Trados Studio 2019 Professional' and a Deactivate button highlighted.

Then add your licence code back to activate the product after installing on your new computer.

If you forget to deactivate, or didn't get an opportunity because of some problem, then you may still be able to resolve this yourself.  You can reset your own license by using the Self Service option in your MySDL account for Trados Studio 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021.

Use this KB article ( gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge ) and follow the instructions.

If you can't do this let us know and we'll create a support ticket for you to get some assistance, but I think it's useful to know how to do this yourself first.
