In our GroupShare server we are evaluating the purchase of a Standard SQL licence (instead of Express) to allow better management of the databases.

We have two alternatives:
- SQL outside the machine (SaaS)
- SQL on the same machine

Would the first option be possible? In that case, the databases would still be divided in different files? If the first option is not possible, would the second option be possible?

What would be the consequences of this change, and could it be done easily? Do we have to take into account any particular circumstances when making the change?

Also, we see that the logs are growing too fast, do you have any best practices file that you can share with us to reduce the size of these logs? We would be grateful if you could provide us with some guidelines to reduce the size of the logs.
