Cannot find ‘file ...:/Users/Name/AppData/Local/Temp/.......html' Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.”

Error message in Trados Studio stating 'Cannot find file ...:UsersNameAppDataLocalTemp.......html'. Only 'OK' button is available. Background shows 'Create a New Project - Summary' screen with steps completed.

Cannot find ‘file ...:/Users/Name/AppData/Local/Temp/.......html' Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.”

Available option: “OK” only

Clicking “OK” gets me through it and does not impact he usual activities. But I do not want to keep this error message unknowing the potential cause and consequences.

I do not understand what kind of file SDL TRADOS is trying to get under the folder AppData/Local/Temp (I suppose it is the one concerned by the error message, even if it can not be read entirely).

I have already tried to the following options, but all options have been failed.

- reinstall STUDIO as an administrator,
- repair STUDIO,
- rename folder in C:/Users/Name/AppData/Local/Roaming

  • Hi there

If you can do everything you need to do with the file, don't worry. In my experience, the error message is just indicating that it can't find a file that is in the client's setup, nor yours. Therefore, the error will be resolved when the client opens this job after you deliver the translated project back to them. It doesn't usually indicate any actual error in fact. Just a connections glitch.

I'm not from the Support team. I'm replying because it's the weekend and I don't know if the RWS Support employees are on duty. I'm just another Trados user and the above message happens often on incoming packages. I always ignore such messages so long as I can open the project and work on it. This has never caused a problem for me.
