Upgrading from Trados Freelance 2017 to Trados Freelance Plus 2022

Question

I currently have Trados Freelance 2017 installed on two computers: my main computer with Windows 10 and my backup computer with Windows 8. The one license in now activated on my main computer. I bought an upgrade to Freelance Plus 2022 so I can use it on both computers, but only now found out that it doesn't support Windows 8. So I can only install it on my main computer. 
 So my plan now is to activate the Trados 2017 license on my backup computer instead, process the license upgrade from 2017 to 2022, and install and activate the Trados 2022 on my main computer. 
 My concern is that the license upgrade page says that my previous Trados license will be replaced with the current one. 
 If I do it according to my plan, would I be able to use Trados 2017 on my backup and Trados 2022 on my main computer? Would there be any problem with using Trados 2017 on a different computer from Trados 2022?

When you buy an upgrade, you basically replace the existing version by the new one and lose the right to still use the old one. Since version 2019, upgrading allows you to run the new and the previous version in parallel, but this works only on the same PC. Unfortunately, this does not work with Studio 2017, due to different licensing software. This means that once you have upgraded your 2017 version, you will be able to use only the 2022 version. But as it is a Freelance Plus license, you can activate it on two computers, which means you will be able to use 2022 on both PC. Idon't see why this would not work on Windows 8, although I would anyway recommend to upgrade your Windows, for safety reasons.
