Failed to open the project folder after location to external hard drive in Trados 2019 (Freelancce)

Since my computer storage is low, then I change the project folder under C and  D drive to my external hard drive.

I opened the "Project Settings", click opened the project, then change the location "C:\Users\asus\Documents\Studio 2019\Projects\..." to be "F:\Trados文件\....".

After completing the above operation, trados operates as usual, except for some files disappeared from the project list after I moved them to the external hard drive.

I can import file to trados, and work on it. When I re-open trados, everything changes. All project list disappeared. When I click "Project" on the left menu bar, it shown errors as below, and then trados flash back at once...

When can I do now? URGENT.

Error message in Trados Studio indicating a problem with the XML file at line 2179, character 97, and a missing 'Name' attribute. The error code is 'WebBrowser'.

  • Dear Sorin,

Kindly be known that this the second time to have the same reply.  I need a quick effective solution and an agent to contact me over my mobile phone. Add to this, two days is soooo long. Please let me know if there is an Egyptian agent located in Cairo, Egypt  to contact directly for this problem or further cases I may encounter.

    Thank you!

I cannot read your error message, but the behavior you describe points me to a defective projects.xml in your Trados.

The simplest way to deal with that would be deleting the projects.xml fro Studio xxxx/Projects folder within your Documents folder in Windows, then start Studio and use the command "Open Project" from the projects view to restore the projects you want to work with now. Manipulating the *.proj file is not the best idea, much better you simply move the complete project to a new location and open it from within Studio from there. Double clicking the *.sdlproj file in the new location should also have the same effect.

Please note: although you can move projects easily, you cannot do this with the resources like TM or TB. These MUSt remain exactly in the same location as they were when the project was created. However, this does not apply to projects received as packages, where the resource settings were not modified.
