I've been using Trados Studio for many months.
Suddenly, without changing the computer (although also suddenly the computer doesn't recognise the mouse/keyboard or there are other issues) I get the message "Let's set up Trado Studio" and I can't just open the software as normal.
Any ideas on what has happened? Is the licence not being recognised for some reason?

Are you able to go through the set up steps? What happens when you finish the set up? Is Studio asking to reactivate the license?

Just clicked through and all the 53 files of my ca. 33,000 word project (in part translated) are no longer there.
It doesn't ask me to reactivate the licence.

You could try to run a Pre-translate batch task using the TM in which the translations for these project were saved.

Thank you so much for your response and useful ideas! My computer crashed completely and I spent the last few days sourcing new computer equipment. I back up regularly but was also helped to extract all the data from the broken computer.
Now I have to reinstall SDL Studio 2021. Any ideas on how to reactivate the licence, i.e. install SDL Studio on the new computer? Maybe I should start a new thread...

You can download and install Studio from your RWS account > Products & Plans > Downloads or from the following link: https://downloadcentercdn.sdl.com/TP/Trados/T2021/CUs/SR2_CU12/TradosStudio2021_SR2_CU12_9338.zip
Then try to reset your license as described in this article: https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0038545
If the license reset doesn`t work for some reason let me know and I`ll log a support case.

Thank you!!! I have reset the licence! I have reinstalled SDL Trados Studio 2021 on the new computer.
I have all the Studio 2021 files from the multi-file project I was working on (saved from the old computer). (For some reason the TM was still in shown in Studio 2017.)
Now I'm having difficulty loading all the files (53 of them plus I need to add/exchange file) into the newly loaded Studio.
Do you know how I can do this so that it appears under 'Projects' and the files appear under 'Editor'?

You simply need to go to Projects view > Open Project and then browse for the location of the project. Once the project is imported you can double click on it and open the files you want in Editor.

You mean in Open Project, click on the Trados Studio Project File? I just get error messages...
Can you provide more details? What error messages are you receiving? If possible please send a screenshot.

I have solved the issue by creating a new project in the newly re-installed Trados Studio 2021. I was then able to upload the XLIFF files into the 'new' project.
I am very grateful for your help. A week ago seemed like a total disaster but with good tips and advice everything has been turned around and I am able to start working again.
(The final point is finding out if my MS Office 2016 licence can be reactivated.)
