Thank you for contacting SDL Support.
Please try the following to attempt to resolve the issue:

1. Make sure Studio(including the error message) is closed
2. Go to C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio ( just paste the link in Windows File Explorer and hit enter)
3. Rename the Studio16 folder ( to Studio16_old for example)
4. Start Studio and check if the issue still occurs

Yes, for this particular error message it is either the reset of the Studio basic settings ( what you performed above) or the possibility of installing a duplicate plugin in Studio.

If the latter would have applied you would have needed to rename the 16 folder in the same path.
