Since an update of Trados Studio 2021 (sometime around last summer - 2022), I have not been able to start Trados Studio 2021 at all. It just flashes, and crashes, without any warning messages or prompts. Some time before this, I was not able to use simple short commands like Ctrl+S to save, without the software crashing in the middle of a translation.
I have tried to repair, uninstall and reinstall the software several times, with the same result - flash and crash at the initiation.
I have tried to clean up my laptop, without any results.
My laptop is a well-working Lenovo IdeaPad 700, that is slightly running out of memory capacity (could this be the cause?). I'd rather not buy either new software or hardware until I have tried all - to me - known options to fix this, because if the software behaves in the same way on a new laptop, it was all in vain.
In the meantime, I have reverted back to Trados Studio 2019 to be able to work at all and am wondering if this could be the issue, i.e. having two active licenses running at the same time on the same laptop? The versions were happily running in parallel before last summer, and my clients sometimes want me to use the older version.
Is there a simple answer or solution to this? Do I need to deactivate/remove v.2019 to get v.2021 to work? Can I get v.2022 on this new laptop, or do I have to get a new laptop and new software?
I would rather not have a cumbersome technical answer to this, as I am a translator, not a technician.
Thanks.
