Sorry, Sorin Perta, you seem to have misunderstood my question. I do NOT need to activate my 2017 I need to DEactivate it so that it will be available for use once I have my new PC.

If your license show as Available in your account it means it`s already deactivated, hence you can`t deactivate it again. You should be able to activate it on the new computer without any issues. Just to make sure we talk about the same license, the last characters are "098ccf7".

If you want to deactivate Studio locally on the current computer you can follow the below steps:

1. Close Studio.
2. Go to: C:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\Data
3. Rename the file Studio.lic, e.g. to Studio_old.lic.

Note: If you can't find the path above, open Windows File Explorer, click on View and check "Hidden Items" checkbox.

Dear Sorin Perta,

I do not know who you are and how you come to the assumption that a2017 licence is available in my account. When I checked my account just before I started the deactivation attempt, NONE of my 2017 licences (I have 2 of them) was available.

Also, I do NOT wish to deactivate my licence on my current PC. I need to do that for the crashed one.

Please(!) read my initial post CAREFULLY so you understand what I need. Sofar all your answers did not even slightly touch the issues I need help with. :-(

I`ve checked the account associated with the email address used by you to log in to Communities and from which you opened this thread. Can you confirm the account ID associated with this email address? 

If the 2 licenses for 2017 are in another account please provide me the account ID.

I still do not understand who you are. How come you have access to my account?
Based on your information I dared to leave the page with the deactivation ticket to check the licence page. It seems that the deactivation process worked in the end, even though I had this error message. It now seems that everything is fine.

Thanks Paul! I did not know how to verify that. You are actually the only one I am aware of when it comes to SDL/RWS, and the only person I have trusted re this tool for so many years.
