cannot transfer licence to new computer

Question

i am trying to transfer the license for SDL Trados 2017 to a new computer. 
 this has failed several times. 
 i could start offline activation. i have successfully created the activation certificate. 
 upon copying the activation certificate in the license activation window i received the following error message: 
 "Failed to validate offline. The specified activation certificate may not be valid. Validate your activation certificate against the certificate in your SDL Account" 
 the case had already been logged ( Case No. 00794837) - that case has been closed by SDL before resolution was achieved.

Hello Lars Kropac 
 You receive that error message because you`re trying to activate Studio 2017 with a 2021 license, which is not possible. With a 2021 license you can only activate Studio 2021. 
 Your 2017 license was removed from your account when you processed the license upgrade from 2017 to 2021. It`s only possible to use Studio 2017 on the current computer if it`s still activated but you can`t transfer a license which doesn`t exist anymore on a new computer.
