How do I create a termbase?

Hello,

I was using the trial version for Trados 2015, and I downloaded a sample termbase. I managed to add some terms and it was working fine. Now I've purchased and activated the license and the sample termbase won't run. It's not an .sdltb file anymore, it's .ldb I don't know why. Anyway, I'd like to create a new termbase, how can I do that? Which plug-in do I have to download?

Thank you very much.

Isadora

  • Hi Isadora,

Creation of termbases is done through a separate software called multiterm termbase. It should be located under the SDL folder in startup if everything was installed correctly.

"ldb" files are called termbase locking files. They should only temporarily exist though as they are used to manage access to entries in the termbase while it is in use. Whenever the last user of the termbase stops using it, the ldb file should be automatically deleted, but sometimes they can be leftover and not properly cleaned up when a program crashes.
  • Hi, Jesse. Thank you for your reply. I didn't find that software in my pc. In my sdl account there are two downloadables: SDL Trados Studio 2015 (which I believe is what I have installed) with the following note in red: Note: Please remember to also download and install SDL MultiTerm 2015.

The second downloadable is SDL MultiTerm 2015 Desktop Installer. Is that the one?
