laptop fails to respond to any commands since I upgraded from Studio Professional 2021 to 2022 SR2 and now 2021 doesn't work either!

On Sunday, I installed my Upgrade to Studio Professional 2022 which I purchased 10 days ago and my computer has basically given up the ghost since.

Until now my PC (processor 5, Windows 10, one Terabyte SDD, 16 GB RAM so performance levels are more than satisfactory) has had NO PROBLEM with me working on both the Professional 2021 version purchased in my name and the Freelance Plus 2019 version (purchased in my wife's name and installed on the same computer as well as on another PC).

I often work with both versions open AT THE SAME TIME (2019 Freelance Plus e 2021 Professional) on two different projects as I often have to connect to TM servers and the lookup takes a few seconds so I work on the other version while it's processing, and work in parallel and I have never had any problems so far until I upgraded from 2021 to 2022.

As soon as installed Studio Professional 2022 my computer simply failed to respond to any commands. It wouldn't even reboot. With the assistance of my tech support I had to restore Windows 10 updated to the latest update last week on 4th December.

Now I don 't have the Professional 2021 version (which I had to deactivate as I purchased an upgrade) nor the 2022 to work on and I refuse to reinstall it until I hear back from someone at RWS to explain what I can do.

Is Professional 2022 incompatible with Freelance 2019 (two licences in two different names) on the same PC?

I don't believe as a user that I should be forced to choose which version to work with (freelance plus 2019 or Professional 2022) as I've never had any issues until I installed the upgrade.

At the moment I have been forced to work in the 2019 Freelance plus version and I'd really like to hear back from someone about what can be done or I'll be forced to return the 2022 licence and go back to working with Professional 2021 which would be a pity.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing after upgrading to Trados Studio Professional 2022. It's understandable that this situation is frustrating, especially since you've been able to work with multiple versions simultaneously in the past without any problems.

Trados Studio 2022 should be compatible with older versions like Freelance 2019, and it's possible to have both installed on the same machine. However, it's important to note that major changes to your system, such as OS upgrades or hardware changes, can affect the functionality of your legacy versions.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for Trados Studio 2022. While your system seems to be more than capable, it's always good to double-check.

Step 2: Try to deactivate and reactivate your Trados Studio 2022 license. This can sometimes resolve issues related to software functionality.

Step 3: If the problem persists, you may want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling Trados Studio 2022. This can help to resolve any issues that may have occurred during the initial installation process.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, it might be worth considering a system restore to a point before you installed Trados Studio 2022. This could help to determine if the issue is specifically related to the software or if it's a broader system issue.

Please note that these are general troubleshooting steps and may not resolve your specific issue. If the problem persists, it would be best to seek further assistance from a technical expert who can provide more personalized support.

I hope this information is helpful and that you're able to resolve your issue soon.

    Best regards,
