Do I have to uninstall Trados 2007 to install Studio 2015?

Do I have to uninstall Trados 2007 to install Studio 2015?

Parents
  • There is a separate module that contains Trados 2007 components that is included in Studio 2015. If you have Trados 2007 already it is not supposed to be installed. It has safeguards internally to stop someone installing it by hand and interfering with the 2007 installation.

    What version of Trados 2007 do you have installed?

    If you are happy looking into the registry it is searching for one of these keys.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{69C76448-D4B8-4886-A848-61CD4EB4B2C7}
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{43BD0C58-6E6E-4500-AFB0-263423319604}
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{BC6C48CB-07BA-405A-B3FB-888DFD1C9527}

    If you create one the installer will succeed.

  • Hello Dave,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    I have Trados 2007 Suite Freelance which came free when I bought Studio 2009 Freelance Plus. I'm not sure how to look in the registry for these keys or how to create one, partly because my computer is in Spanish!
  • I don't think there is a way of attaching files to this forum so I cannot send you a .reg file.

    But if you open notepad and paste the following into it, assuming you have 64 bit windows.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{69C76448-D4B8-4886-A848-61CD4EB4B2C7}]

     then save the file out as trados2007.reg - make sure to change the 'save as type' to all files (*.*) not text documents (*.txt) as the .reg extension is important.

    The double click the saved .reg file and say ok to the security warnings, you should get three prompts.

    Then try the install again.

    If it doesnt work you may have 32 bit windows so delete Wow6432Node\ from the line in the reg file and try again.
