Trados 2021 SR2 not starting, freezing at "Initializing views"

Hello,

For several days now my Trados 2021 SR2 has been freezing at "Initializing views" and refuses to progress further. Sometimes it crashes Windows. I have spent quite a number of hours on trying to uninstall, reinstall both Trados and Windows (11). It was working fine previously.

Current installation for Trados Studio is 16.2.10.9305.

Other IT experts have thrown up their hands at this point and given up. Does anyone know what the problem here is?

  • Hello, and thank you. Sadly, "workaround 1" (Repair) had no effect on the issue. Still froze during view initialization.

    Subsequent to that I applied "workaround 2" in the link you provided. On start, the program rejected start at the stage "set-up assistant". An exception was thrown. The exception refers to "Sdl.Common.Licensing.Provider.SafeNetRMS.SafeNetRMSLicensingProviderException". 

    After this I attempted to apply the steps of "Workaround 3" to restore Trados to default state (though it bears mentioning this was a 100% fresh installation). As stated in original post, the folder at C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents is completely empty. There a zero subfolders or files of any kind, thus I cannot rename anything there.

    I shall search for the above error message but so far, nothing has helped. :(
