Trados Studio upgrade

Hello!  I am trying to sort out a problem which has arisen since I purchased an upgrade from Studio 2021 to Studio 2024.

On the licence activation page, I am asked for the Installation ID as one of the entries required. This was presumably created internally in Studio 2021 and I have no way of finding it.

The result seems to be that although I can activate the new licence (and that does not always respond), when I try to open a package from an RWS PM I receive an error message from Adobe saying that this file type is not recognized, presumably because there is no link between the two software systems.

So I cannot process Trados jobs at present

From your message I suppose, you are trying to open this package via double click. When you start Trados Studio and open the package with the corresponding command rrom within the software, this error should not appear anymore. To avoid this in the future, go to Windows settings, chose Apps, then Standard Apps and scroll down to see "Set standard values according to file type" and adapt the software assigned to all "*.sdl*" files to Trados Studio. Please note, that the way to achieve this may be slightly different on your system, as my answer is based on German Windows.
